Stella Luna Farms 2015 CSA Season Info

IMG_8734.JPG

Stella Luna Farms CSA has been growing fresh seasonal produce for our foothill and mountain communities since 2003.  Our CSA is unique because we do not retail or wholesale our food.  Local Shareholders are keeping our food in the foothills and Me in the fields farming.  I do not have to try to market against farms that might have more land, labor, and capital in the wolds largest agriculture center the Central Valley.

What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculute or CSA is a partnership of mutual commitment between a farm and a community of local supporters.  The shareholders invest in the farms harvest by helping to cover the farm’s expenses such as labor, seeds, water, land costs, fertility inputs, and upkeep of equipment.

The farm provides a healthy, diverse supply of fresh, seasonal produce throughout the growing season.  Both the farmer and shareholder take the risks of investing in agriculture.

This relationship between a farm and it’s supporters helps create an economically stable farming operation where members are ensured high quality produce and farmers are guaranteed a livelihood and reliable market for their food.

Our newsletter will help you stay in touch with the farm.  You will find photos of the farm and produce, taste tested recipes, and updates on what’s happening out at the farm.

Responsibilities of a supporter:

- Promot the CSA so we can Farm!

-Signing in and picking up your proper share between the allotted time offered at your site.

-Helping to keep drop off sites tidy and organized while you are picking up.

-Returning your empty boxes or bring a bag/basket; boxes end up being one of our biggest expences.

How to become a Shareholder:

There is an initial $150 registration fee, which goes toward farm expenses upon sign up.  It is possible to register after the season has already started.  This fee is deducted from the weekly box prices, so it is equivalent to approximately 6 weeks of Chef boxes ($25) or 7 weeks of Basic boxes ($20).  It is not an additional fee. We do not offer any trial periods.  You can register by copying or printing out a registration form through this website, and sending it to: Jamelie Taylor c/o Stella Luna Farm 33365 Hoskins Lane, Auberry, CA. 93602.  You are investing in a farm and the produce is your weekly reward!
